Trish Cotham’s betrayal of her own voters allowed the GOP to pass an abortion ban and strip our public schools of millions in funding. It’s critical that we take the seat back. The National Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee named Nicole “a spotlight candidate” in a particularly important race.
Those of you outside of the Charlotte area have probably heard about the race but may be less familiar with Nicole as a person. She’s worked as a high school teacher, an attorney, and at Charlotte’s Temple Beth El, first as their Social Justice Coordinator and now as their Director of Congregational Life. She’s raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research and ran Christy Clark’s successful campaign for NC House in 2018. Her top issues include protecting women’s reproductive freedoms, ensuring public schools are fully funded, working to end partisan gerrymandering, passing common sense gun safety laws, and fighting back against rising antisemitism in our state.
We’re thrilled to announce our first caucus-wide fundraiser this election cycle will be for Nicole Sidman. For legal reasons, we’re calling this a suggestion rather than an earmark, but we can assure you that all money collected will go directly to her campaign. Combining our donations to candidates together in this way allows us to have a bigger impact and raise the profile of our caucus in the state.
