About the NCDPJC
The North Carolina Democratic Jewish Caucus is the only officially recognized Jewish Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party.
Our Mission is to Make NC BLUE & GREEN
The Imperative:
- There is a growing danger to democracy in our state and country threatening the civil rights of minorities, women, the disabled and the LGBTQ+ communities.
- The rise of authoritarianism, fascism, racism, anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred emboldens these perils and reminds many Jews that we are a generation away from being threatened with annihilation.
- Some partisans are using the Democratic Party to propose divisive and impolitic resolutions not pertinent to the concerns of most voters.
- Some of these resolutions display a lack of empathy towards the concerns of Jewish existential concerns specifically those with unbalanced views on Israel dividing the Democratic Party voter base at the worst possible time. We need unity.
In response to these concerns, the North Carolina Democratic Party Jewish Caucus, (NCDPJC), is being formed.
Our goals are to:
- Strengthen and unify the Democratic Party of NC;
- Educate and create forums for valuable meaningful dialogue with fellow Democrats who hold various and opposing views;
- Engage the Jewish community to become more involved in volunteering & supporting the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates;
- Create stronger alliances with other NC Democratic Party affiliated organizations; and
- Find better, more appropriate venues to discuss and develop resolutions supported across the Democratic Party that are substantive, meaningful and embraced because they support unity and help elect local and state Democrats.

JUSTICE AND EQUALITY
The Jewish principle of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) informs our shared commitment to social justice, civil rights, and equal opportunities for all.
IMMIGRATION REFORM
Inspired by the Jewish value of welcoming the stranger, we advocate for compassionate and humane immigration policies that provide pathways to citizenship and protect vulnerable communities.
EDUCATION
Judaism emphasizes the importance of education (Torah lishma—learning for its own sake). We support strong public schools, affordable higher education, and policies that uplift all students.
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
We are dedicated to combating antisemitism, bigotry, and all forms of discrimination, while ensuring the dual Constitutional protections of religious freedom, and of freedom from religion.
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
Judaism supports personal autonomy and the right to make decisions about reproductive health. We advocate for access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including the right to safe and legal abortion.
VOTING RIGHTS
Democratic values of fair elections and accessible voting resonate with Jewish teachings on justice and communal responsibility (Tzedek, Tzedek Tirdof —justice, justice you shall pursue).
ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
Jews have always believed in ensuring economic fairness, workers’ rights, and policies that support families and fight poverty through the values of Tzedakah (charitable giving) and Al Oshek (prohibition against oppression).
ENVIRONMENTAL CARE
The Jewish concept of Bal Tashchit (do not destroy) calls for environmental stewardship and demands that we work to combat climate change and protect natural resources.
