Raleigh City Council District E Volunteer Opportunity

October 20 @ 12:45 pm - October 27 @ 6:00 pm

NCDPJC Wake County

We are writing to ask ALL of our members to do a great Mitzvah!  Please help Democrat John Cerqueira get elected to the Raleigh City Council for District E by poll greeting for him at early voting sites and on Election Day in District E.

We are working with John’s volunteer coordinator to help staff Lake Lynn Community Center and Laurel Hills Community Center early voting sites for 2-3 hour blocks to hand out John’s information card, during the high-traffic Sundays listed below.  To help, REPLY TO THIS EMAIL ASAP to let us know which shifts and locations you can do.

Sundays: October 20 and/or October 27

Lake Lynn Community Center

  • 12:45-3:30pm
  • 3:30-6:00pm

Laurel Hills Community Center

  • 12:45-3:30pm
  • 3:30-6:00pm
  • Other shifts Mon-Fri? – let us know your availability
  • AND if you live in District E, can you put up a yard sign for John?  We deliver!

We need to help John by handing out his qualifications to voters so they are aware that there is another very qualified Democrat running for District E.  Without our help, Dems who go to the polls will get handed the WCDP slate card but won’t know that John is also running and is extremely well qualified and is a unifier, not a divider, unlike Christina Jones who was endorsed by WCDP against many many objections.

We also want to help him on Election Day at voting sites in District E, but we will contact you later about that. Please see below for why this is important!

Why Do We Need to Help John Cerqueira?

John is the NCDP Jewish Caucus endorsed candidate over Christina Jones who pushed divisive anti-Israel resolutions at the Raleigh City Council after October 7 and also was photographed wearing a kefiyah and hugging Rania Masra, who called October 7 “a beautiful day”. When asked at recent meetings if she would commit to not bringing divisive foreign policy issues before the city council in the future if she were re-elected, she would not commit to not doing it again.

Here is the background on why John needs our help….. The Wake County Democratic Party was asked by many current and former city and statewide Democratic party leaders, including the NCDP Jewish Caucus, NOT to endorse any Democrat over another in the Raleigh City Council races, yet the WCDP chose to endorse Christina Jones. Her name, therefore, will appear on Democratic slate cards handed out by WCDP poll greeters during early voting and Election Day. John needs help getting his information out to voters at the polls who may not be aware that another qualified Dem is running.

Some Info About John (https://www.john4raleigh.com/about)

John grew up in Durham and Cary, attended NC State. He earned an MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he studied urban planning and organizational change, strengthening a career centered on understanding people, solving complex problems, and giving back to the community.

He helped found Skate Raleigh, a non-profit that brought the Conlon Family Skate Park downtown, demonstrating the power of public-private partnerships. John also volunteers to coach the junior varsity basketball team at Our Lady of Lourdes, where his daughter is on the team.

In his current professional life, John helps organizations manage and work through the impacts of change. This provides him with a unique ability to meet diverse parties where they are and understand their concerns, working toward common ground and effective solutions.

John has the unique qualifications to lead Raleigh forward!

We would really like to have our members be a presence in this vital effort to elect John.  We hope that you will volunteer!
